| Description of the San Raphael Hotel |
It was established in January 22, 1974 by the traditional Jafet family, who came to Brazil in 1887. It is situated in the heart of Sao Paulo, in the traditional Largo do Arouche, 150 (at the corner of Sao Joao Avenue).
A fiftieth hotel, where the former Lord used to be, known in the 1950s for hosting celebrities, such as artists even from Hollywood and people involved in politics.
The San Raphael Hotel has been one of the most outstanding hotels in the 1980s, because it has united its tradition in receiving guests and executives from Brazil and from abroad to its successful modern convention center, which holds various events in association with companies that use its rooms for meetings, courses, releases of products and even parties. Get to know our facilities.
It was in this context that the San Raphael Hotel conquered its place in Sao Paulo. This way, Raphael Jafet kept the hotel as one of the best known and most traditional hotels of the heart of Sao Paulo.
Raphael Jafet has already inaugurated two mores hotels, one of them, the San Michel Hotel, also in Largo do Arouche, and the other, the San Raphael Country, in the city of Itu.
Nowadays, the hotel is studying a project which proposes the construction of a leisure area with a card-room, sauna e a gymnastics facility.
According to its owner, the San Raphael has become a family that shelters 125 employees trained to serve the customers the best way possible, so that everyone can be satisfied: the employees for having a good performance, and the customers for being well-served.
Taking advantage of its privileged location, the director has implemented the first pub of the area, the Arouche Beer Sports Bar, situated next to the main entrance of the hotel.
To innovate, but never to deprive of its characteristics. It was with this thought in mind that Raphael Jafet Junior decided to hire the architect Washington Fiuza to remodel the hotel. The distinctive refinement of the 1950s continues to create the atmosphere in the apartments and other rooms, but with a lot more charm.
The works have started a couple of years ago, and include from the replacement of hydraulic and electrical components to changes in decoration.
These modifications combines the comfort of Jacuzzis or hair dryers with wide, high and illuminated rooms, very common in the architecture of the 1950s.
The golden doorknobs, preserved since the construction of the building, like the built-in closets and spaces, are what most stand out. Maintaining the original architecture of the hotel's restaurant, the Chez Raphael, on the second floor, was the main concern. There are gypsum frames on the walls and carved wooden tables, in an illuminated atmosphere with wide windows. The original style of the entrance, which shelters a lot of old furniture, was also kept. All the repairs which involve joinery, tapestry or sewing are made inside the hotel. A calm walk by Largo do Arouche alleys reveals Sao Paulo's memoirs.
