| The hotel combines artful Art Deco interiors with impressive Bauhaus architecture and contemporary works by artists such as Elvira Bach, Rainer Fetting and Georg Baselitz. Original paintings adorn each of the 99 luxurious guest rooms and suites. The hotel restaurants 'Anna Amalia' and the tradition-rich 'Elephantenkeller', the latter housed in a century-old vault, are known well beyond the city and serve exquisite cuisine (with separate non-smoking areas). This luxury hotel was first mentioned in a document dated 1542 and was always a popular haunt amongst politicians, artists and intellectuals. Famous artists such as Goethe, Schiller and J.S. Bach, all of whom were regular visitors, contributed to its reputation and made it the social and cultural heart of the city by the 17th century. The excellent location of the hotel, directly on the historic marketplace of the city, makes visiting the many well-known sights such as the Goethe house, the German National Theatre or the Bauhaus Museum easy. All of these can be reached in a few minutes on foot and the nearest public transport stop is also only 500 m away. There are numerous restaurants, parks and shopping amenities nearby.

Each of the 99 lovingly and individually appointed rooms impresses through a mixture of modernity, elegance and comfort. Large beds and bathrooms (with hairdryer), Bauhaus classics in all rooms and selected paintings on the walls create an exceptional atmosphere.
