| Description of the Agistri (Skala) Hotel |
This is a gorgeous little find - decorated and refurbished throughout over the last couple of years to offer a real hint of the Byzantine era with ornate furniture and pictures donning the walls. You'll love it, whats more, the Agistri hotel is "Slap bang" in the heart of Skala and just 100m from the lovely beach. Even better is the fact that like nearly all Skala hotels, it will take no more than minutes to walk the walk from the harbour on arrival from Piraeus to your front door! The reception can be found downstairs in the little office and just a couple of doors down is a beach front café to enjoy your drink(s)- as this island is so laid back eating and drinking will become your favourite pastimes by the time you leave!

When you leave the airport you can take a special shuttle bus E96 (24 hours service) to the Port of Piraeus. About every 15/ 20 minutes during the day and about every half hour at night. The bus stops several time on the way, Piraeus harbour is the last stop. The Metro also operates a regular and efficient service to Pireaus. Once you arrive at the Piraeus main station simply turn right, crossing the busy road to where all the ferry boats are and you will see all the boats for Agistri. You need to buy your ferry tickets from the kiosk in bay 8 where you can take the catermaran or the car ferry, the catermaran is the faster crossing taking approx 1 hour, the car ferry takes 2 hour. These all leave at regular intervals throughout the day which means that waiting times for a boat / hydrofoil should not exceed more than 1 hour at a time during the day. Services operate from as early as 5.30am in the summer up to 8pm at night. The frequency of the services does reduce during the spring but a regular service is still available (Pls check timetables upon arrival at the harbour). The journey once docked into Skala is a 5 minute walk up the main road and "Hey Presto" you're there! |
