| Description of the Fosshotel Baron |
The Fosshotel Baron enjoys a perfect central location. Just 300m from Reykjavik's main shopping street, even less to the sea with just a short stroll to the colourful harbour front that comes alive during the summer time. The hotel was originally a former barn owned by a rich French baron who later died penniless and traces of original wooden beams (now government protected) can still be seen throughout a part of the hotel. The hotel is as diverse as the area in which it is located and a wide range of accommodation is available to suit all needs. An unusual and popular Korean restaurant and cosy bar further compliment the hotel.
|
| |
| Restaurant:- | The hotel offers a very unique dining experience in the Korean Restaurant called "Galbi". Here the food items are bought to your table uncooked and then you are provided with all the necessary equipment, herbs and spices to cook your own feast by way of the table's central flame cook feature. The restaurant offers a popular dining experience and often attracts many locals too. |
| Families:- | The hotel has apartments within the building that render this perfect for families. Icelandic children's books are also available for children to read (translated into English). Themed bedding can also be provided for children ranging from "Barbie" to "Pokemon". |
| Business facilities:- | Three well equipped meeting rooms offer a number of services for the business traveller including all electrical equipment (at extra charge). |
| Disabled facilities:- | Not suitable for those with walking difficulties because the hotel's sea facing location means that there is a short walk uphill to get to the city centre. |
| 20 mins walk:- | City centre shopping, bars, shops and restaurants, bars and all the buzzing nightlife, art galleries and some of the city's museums |
| Public transport:- | The city bus stop is just over 100m from the hotel and serves the surrounding area |
| From the airport:- | "Fly Bus" operates a service to coincide with the arrival of International flights c. 1,150 ISK and takes approximately 45 mins depending on the number of stops en route. |
| Parking:- | Off road parking requires payment at meters. The hotel also has its own parking grounds, local charges apply. |
| Room facilities:- | Standard rooms offer: Satellite TV, direct dial telephone, WiFi internet access alarm clock radio, hair dryer. Front facing rooms offer pleasant sea views although this can not be guaranteed. |
| Reception:- | Reception offers a 24hours service, all excursion activities may be arranged through reception. |
| Breakfast Room:- | Buffet breakfast served between 7am - 10am |

Customer reviews of the Fosshotel Baron
|
"Comfortable and value for money in central location" |
|
"Comfortable hotel in a good location. Breakfast would have been better
with hot eggs and bacon rather than just a cold selection. However,
choice of cold food was very good. I missed having a comfortable lounge
to sit a relax with a drink at any time of day. It would also be nice to
have coffee making facilities in the bedroom as you could not get a
drink during the day.
As a bed and breakfast hotel to base
oneself for visiting the features that Reykjavik and Iceland has to
offer it was very adequate and I would reuse again."
The best thing about Fosshotel Baron was:"Bedrooms very comfortable"
The worst thing about Fosshotel Baron was: "No comfortable lounge for day use"
