This beach hotel was constructed in 17th century traditional Malay architectural style and won the coveted Aga Khan Award for Architecture. The design of the resort is derived from the elegantly-crafted wooden palaces of Malay sultans from long ago and it involved extensive research into traditional forms of craftsmanship, mainly from the east coast of Malaysia. Malay culture and heritage are clearly present in every aspect of this resort, from the way the rooms and suites are designed, to the elaborate detailing in the woodwork and the Gamelan music played every evening. Location:

The resort is located on the east coast of the Malaysian peninsula, between Kuala Terengganu in the North and Kuantan in the South. The resort is built on a 17-hectare site facing the South China Sea. The river town of Dungun lies to the West of Tanjong Jara, around 8 km away, and it is around a 20-minute car ride to the Dungun Night Market.

Every room is intricately designed, using rich local timbers and tastefully furnished with luxurious local fabrics. The rooms are all positioned so as to offer panoramic views of the South China Sea as well as the beautiful tropical landscaped gardens.
