"The Building work next door spoilt this hotel
" |
|
"I think we should of been informed of the building work that was being
carried out directly behind our bedroom wall. I appricated that the
building work was beyond the control of the hotel and from reading the
reviews on the hotel about nosiey traffic I expected it to be noisey but
didnt expect to be worken up at 7.30 every morning with banging and
drilling and we were there for a 7 nights and the builders only had one
day off. A plug in the bath would of also been nice. Basic and clean
hotel would of been value for money with out the building work next door

"Reasonable on a budget
" |
|
"This hotel is great if you are on a budget, dont plan to spend much time
there and arent relying upon the breakfast. The hotel is clearly in need
of an update and the decor (and staff) appear tired and past it. The
High Atlas tour offered by reception just didnt go quite High enough, so
if its mountains you wish to see, you'd be advised to book
elsewhere.....However, that said, the hotel is convieniently placed to
walk to the Medina and train station, the official open top bus tour
begins right outside and Charly's Cabana restaurant around the corner do
the best Tajines for miles! The rooms are clean even if outdated and the
price cant be grumbled at. Give it a go.

"Friendly staff, clean basic rooms.

|
"Friendly helpful staff made the stay very pleasant. Basic rooms but
clean and tidy, plenty of hot water. On a busy road so if your room
overlooks it there is some traffic noise. About 30min easy walk into the
old town. Basic breakfast but nice to have it included. Smoking is the
norm so the room did smell a bit of cigarettes - lots of nice smelling
things in the souk to combat this though!

""Good value in a great location'

"Nice little hotel in Mohamed v, a short walk to the Medina (15 min). We
were very lucky to get the suit room which was great! Good size and
clean room an toilet. Simple but good breakfast included in the price of
the room. Very good. Very good service both late at night and very early
in the morning. Only bad point: the elevator is very noise and would
wake up light sleepers (not our case). I would recommend it to anybody
and would definitely go again if I visit Marrakech.

"A nice clean hotel
" |
|
"The hotel amalay situated about a 15 minuite walk from the center of
marrakech was a great base for myself and a friend on a lads weekend
away from the better halfs! The room was clean and spacious with a well
apointed bathroom en-suit we didn't have much of a view from the window
(fire escape and roof tops) but we were out all day and were using the
hotel only for sleeping. Breakfast wasn't very filling for two large
chaps you get a 6" piece of french bread and a pan au chocolat with tea
or coffee we asked for some orange juice as well and this was also
provided (freshley squeezed lovely). A taxi to the main square should
cost you about 10 dnr if they use the meter but for tourists it is more
likley to be 40 dnr (£2.60) ther are plenty of places to eat in the
evening so after the breakfast expeariance we didn't try the hotel
restaurant. There was a bit of traffic noise but nothing that I wouldn't
expect you to get in any other hotel in marrakech.
"
The best thing about Amalay was:"Clean

The worst thing about Amalay was: "Tv remote didn't work had to get out of bed to turn it off!

"The hotel was in a good location for us to walk into the old town,
Moderna and great for the local restaurants. The hotel is basic but has
heating/aircon, is clean and tidy. You get what you pay for...it's such

"The hotel is a bit of a way from the Souk, but if you're not someone who
drives everywhere in their car, then it's a nice walk - but keep on your
toes when crossing the roads! The room was nice & clean, w/ en -
suite.... W/ a good breakfast to get you started for the day. Go for it!

"Good value with good restaurant offering value for money meals
(and beer)
" |

"Good all round value, although breakfast was a bit hit and miss
(depending on wether a tour group was staying). Izmi (or Imzi) tours
across the road offered a good range of trips. Out of the hotel and turn
right, and then keep walking for 30 minutes plus (not ten as advertised)
to reach the square!
"
The best thing about Amalay was:"The restaurant and its prices
"
The worst thing about Amalay was: "The shower/bath controls were beyond the shower head meaning you got
a cold soak

"Affordable hotel near to all that Marrakesh has to offer. Clean and
friendly basic accommodation (E.G. no pool) but with restaurant and
breakfast room. Would recommend to travellers on a budget. Location on
main road meant some traffic noise, but this wasn't an issue with
windows shut and ac on.

"Good value and nice central location

"We found this hotel good value for the money. Although basic It was
spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The day
we wanted to catch the 7am train to Casablanca they gave us an early
morning call and provided our breakfast at 6.15 we were very impressed.
The food served in the restaurant was good and plentiful. Being
centrally located made it very easy to get around the city The open top
bus service where you could hop on and off left from outside the hotel.
There was also a taxi rank. We felt that for the money spent we were
given a good service and would not hesitate to return.
