"Good location, basic rooms

"Fabulous hotel on the outside, reception area, bar, restaurant,
breakfast area is let down a little by the austere bedroms, like
something from a 1960's film set. Am I being harsh?, Well I have stayed
here twice in the past month in a double room and single rooms. I know
the hotel is going through a period of restoration. The double was
unrestored but the single had been restored, bathroom was great and
modern but the room itself was still the same, old carpet on the floor,
old style wooden furniture. The breakfasts are good, the bar and
restaurant serve good food and a new conservatory has just been
completed on the side. Be aware this hotel is used by school parties who
descended like locusts on the breakfast area one morning!
"
The best thing about Royal was:"Closeness to centre and tram network
"
The worst thing about Royal was: "First impressions promised a lot but was disappointed by the rooms.

"Excellent value, classy, and in a good location" |

"Reception efficient and pleasant. We expected a room, and had instead a
suite, with sitting room complete with China Cabinet (and china and
cutlery). Bedroom of excellent size, with arm chairs, and still
space.
Great location - ideal for evening circuitof Wawel and
nocturnal meeing with dragon, and delightful amble up to the Rynek
either by lively street or tree-lined planty. Would definitely stay
again(though we'd like the samne room !)"
The best thing about Royal was:"Surrealistic spacious suite"
The worst thing about Royal was: "Nothing"

"Great value for money" |

"Quite a basic hotel, but it had everything that we needed. It was
clean, very warm, safe, the staff were friendly and helpful, there was a
good choice of foods for breakfast and we weren't rushed at all. The
hotel is located right at the foot of the palace and is only about a
five/ten minute walk from the main square, so we found the location to
be very good as well.
"
The best thing about Royal was:"The laid back attitude and the helpful staff. We didn't feel rushed -
even when leaving. There was no strict 'get out' time."
The worst thing about Royal was: "There are no double beds in any of the rooms. We booked a double room,
but had to have two single beds."
