The Gredos mountain range has given refuge to this stone building, the first of the Paradores, since 1928, among crystalline waters, wild rocks and luxuriant green pine groves. Its location, on El Alto del Risquillo, is a privileged viewpoint over the Tormes valley, the Gredos massif and the Piedrahita and Béjar mountain ranges, becoming a centre for excursions. It is 60 km from Ávila and 170 km from Madrid.
