Description of the Hospederia Alcantara Hotel
The hotel is housed in a former Franciscan monastery, which dates back to 1478. It was originally built by Bartolome de Oviedo, and was later renovated in the seventeenth century by the Marques de Buscayolo. More recently it saw use as a flour mill and guests can still see some of the machinery from this time on the ground floor, where a small ethnographic museum is also housed. It was renovated again in 2007. The building has two floors and an attic. The 3.000 m² of floor space available has been divided into 30 rooms, of which 23 are doubles, 2 are suites and 5 are superior rooms, as well as communal areas such as the café and the restaurant. It has a lobby with 24-hour reception. Lift access also features. Conference facilities are also available, as is WLAN access. Room and laundry services are also available. Guests arriving by car may wish to make use of the parking facilities provided.

Meals:
The hotel offers an appetising breakfast buffet. An ample choice of dishes is also offered in the restaurant, where the menus can be adapted to facilitate the individual wishes of customers. The restaurant Kantara also offers excellent service and cuisine based on a daring mix of the traditional and the modern. Recommendations include the Arroz Cremoso served on a base of Torta del Casar, a dish typical to the region. Canelon with ox tail is a good example of the traditional dishes on offer.

Sports/Entertainment:
Upon entering the communal area one can't help but notice the museum, which displays machinery from the former flour mill that operated in the building. It now occupies 3 floors in what used to be the monastery church. There is an air of serenity and tranquillity in the hotel, which guests will experience as they take a walk through the gardens or relax by the swimming pool located in what was previously the market gardens belonging to the monks. Guests can also make use of the sun terrace.
