Orlando, Home of the Theme Parks

Orlando is the absolute mecca for Theme Park enthusiasts with Disney and Universal Studios providing a wealth of entertainment for visitors.

Disney is a proud host to 4 theme parks... First comes Magic Kingdom, the home of Mickey Mouse and so much more, including Monsters Inc and Pirates of the Carribean. Next up is Epcott, offering an eclectic mix of science and fun. Plus an area where you can travel from country to country sampling the local wares from distant continents and still get back to your hotel in time for tea.

Third on the list is Disney's Hollywood Studios, offering a wealth of film fun from both the modern day and the bygone era, and featuring the aptly named "ride" of The Twilight Zones Tower of Terror! Last but by no means least comes Disney's Animal Kingdom, where Florida meets Africa in a vibrant mix of exciting rides and safaris.
Universal Orlando features 2 major parks. The first is Universal Studios bringing together entertainment and the movie industry in one thrilling park. Higlights include the Simpsons Ride, Shrek 4-D, Revenge of the Mummy, Men in Black Alien Attack, together with classic rides and adventures including Terminator 2 3-D, Jaws, ET Adventure and live shows. The Second is Islands of Adventure, a vivid mix of fun for the family and huge rollercoasters testing the limits of even the bravest of thrillseekers. Top attractions include the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, Incredible Hulk Coaster, Jurrasic Park River Adventure and Dueling Dragons where two Rollercoasters race side by side.

And if its fun in the water you're after don't forget the 3 great waterparks Orlando has to offer. Disney's Blizzard Beach has an ice theme and features the Slush Gusher and Toboggan Racers, whilst Disney's Typhoon Lagoon is set at sea with featured attractions including Castaway Creek, Shark Reef and Gang Plank Falls. Meanwhile Universal's Wet 'n Wild on International Drive does exactly what is says on the tin... You do get wet and it does get wild! Featured rides include Bomb Bay, Brain Wash, Disco H2O, The Storm and a Kids Park.

Mrs W Naftel of Derby (Family with teenage children) stayed: Orlando Metropolitan Resort Hotel, Sep 2008

Mr A Eyre of Sheffield (Mature couple) stayed: Super 8 Motel International Drive Hotel, Sep 2008

"If you want to be force to waste your time in share times, go to this place. If you want to enjoy your holiday and you don't like to be told what to do, find out about the place before you go there. More customer tips and city guides for Orlando I Drive:

"We booked 1 night at this hotel so that we could drive around I Drive and find something we liked better. This was a good idea and worked well. This hotel is fine if you want really cheap and cheeful - it really is value for money if you're watching the pennies but there is nothing special or luxurious about it. However there was nothing that offended us either. If you've done the parks before and only intend spending 1 week of your 2 week vacation there then book a villa with pool for your 2nd week on the gulf coast - they really are the ultimate relaxation factor and not that expensive. "
Mrs A Langley of Llanelli (Family with teenage children) stayed: Wynfield Inn Orlando Convention Center Hotel, Jul 2008

"I would not stay here again! "
Miss M Curran of Londonderry (Young adult friends) stayed: Orlando Metropolitan Resort Hotel, Jul 2008

"You can never see it all in one or two visits keep goig back ! "
Mr E Mitchell of Bearsden (Family with teenage children) stayed: Holiday Inn And Suites Convention Center Hotel, Jun 2008

"Giveit a try "
Mr G Johnson of Tyne & Wear (Solo leisure) stayed: Quality Inn Plaza Hotel, Jun 2008

"Avoid Spring Break "
Mr M Goss of Gosport (Solo leisure) stayed: Holiday Inn And Suites Convention Center Hotel, Apr 2008

"Cheaper to eat out than to eat in "
Mrs M Matthews of Chepstow (Family with young children) stayed: Esd Extended Stay Deluxe Sea World Hotel, Mar 2008

"Ride the I Ride bus from one end to the other of I.Drive and find all sorts of shops and restaurants. Try Aquatica,Seaworlds newest attraction. Even us middle aged couples rode the water screaming like teenagers. February was a good time to come although weather was a little too cool on occasions. After four visits there is still plenty for us to find in Orlando and will come back again. "
Mrs C Bean of Catford (Mature couple) stayed: Quality Inn Plaza Hotel, Feb 2008

"If you can, hire a car, you will see much more of Florida, there is alot more to see than just Disney Etc. Try an Airboat ride and experience the wild side, there is just so much to see and do. A trip to Mount Dora or Winter Park also makes a good day out. Happy Travels "
Mrs J Lomax of Bury (Mature couple) stayed: Courtyard By Marriott Convention Center Hotel, Jan 2008

"To get the best from your holiday, hire a car and plan your days ahead "
Ms M Taylor of Morpwth (Mature couple) stayed: Esd Extended Stay Deluxe Sea World Hotel, Oct 2007

"Wear comfortable shoes all the time, and be prepared to spend a lot of money, as there are plenty of quality bargains to be had in the malls. The summer is too hot and humid, and the weather can be unsettled. November to March is very pleasant. "
Mrs S Coles of Swansea (Mature couple) stayed: Renaissance Orlando Resort Sea World Hotel, Nov 2007

"Stay here "
Mr M Moulton of Crewe (Family with teenage children) stayed: Esd Extended Stay Deluxe Sea World Hotel, Sep 2007

"Flea market pretty good not far from hotel food and clothes very cheap "
Mr W Doyle of London (Solo leisure) stayed: Super 8 Motel International Drive Hotel, Sep 2007

"For golf I can recommend Shingle Creek. Great value and service and they even pay for your taxi home. "
Mr D Pearce of Maesteg (Young couple) stayed: Crowne Plaza Universal Hotel, Sep 2007

"You will have a busy but great time "
Mr M Compton of Newcastle (Mature couple) stayed: Holiday Inn And Suites Convention Center Hotel, Aug 2007

"Do not use the taxi facility organised by this hotel, I did and was charged $25.00 for a trip that was then offered at $5.00 return to the Wall Mart. Try using an independant taxi firm that you call yourself, much cheaper. "
Mrs J Sawers of Edinburgh (Family with teenage children) stayed: Best Western Plaza Hotel, Jun 2007

"Defo stay in this hotel if you want good value for money! Also if you are going to I-Drive you should get a pass form the I-ride bus and that is £16.00 for 14 days and takes you everywhere you need to go and they come along almost every 5-10 minutes xx "
Mrs M Rossiter of Ramsgate (Young couple) stayed: Days Inn International Hotel, May 2007

"If you are booking a hotel make sure that the time of your visit does not coincide with a convention at the convention centre. This makes rooms extremely hard to come by and increases the prices charged. A Car is a must, Orlando is a large sprawling resort. Midas was a great site to use, easy and reliable. "
Mrs J Lomax of Bury (Solo leisure) stayed: Crowne Plaza Resort Hotel, May 2007

"Easy and inexpensive to travel around the area by public transport using the I-Ride or the local Lynx buses. "
Mrs S Gibson of Bourne End (Solo leisure) stayed: Travelodge Universal Orlando Hotel, Mar 2007

"HAVE a great time "
Mr A Ryan of Rotherham (Family with young children) stayed: Orlando Metropolitan Express Hotel, Jan 2007

"Yes, if the pound is strong against the dollar do not buy any park tickets in uk before you go. Also really do consider whether renting a car is needed, as to get to most parks there is public transport which is cheap. "
Mrs D Morrow of Knaresborough (Family with teenage children) stayed: Quality Inn International Hotel, Nov 2006

"Go to the parks on week days as the queues are shorter than at weekends. "
Mr C Mcdonald of Fraserburgh (Mature couple) stayed: Quality Inn Plaza Hotel, Nov 2006

"Book adventure park tickets in advance and search for discounts. "
Mr D Magee of Belfast (Mature couple) stayed: Holiday Inn International Hotel, Nov 2006
