"I stayed at the Colonial Club two years previously. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and had no hesitation in booking again. It was lovely to see the refurbished rooms and many familiar faces. A real treat! However, my beautiful room turned into a bit of a nightmare for a female lone traveller. It wasn't in the best of locations, situated on a corner, near the laundry and on one of the main pathways to the reception, restaurant and bar areas. I lasted 2 nights before asking could I change rooms. No sooner than the words were out of my mouth, I was told to pack up my stuff and I would be moved by the time I returned from my trip later that day. Whilst my new room didn't have the wonderful soft furnishings nor the plasma tv. What it had, was priceless! Peace and quiet, so safety ( and sanitiy restored) I was able to continue with the rest of my holiday. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and honest. I also left my camera on the courtesy bus. I was extremely grateful to Meghan (the bus driver) for handing it in. All in all it is the people that make this hotel special and I would have no hesitation in staying there when I return to Cairns. "
The best thing about Cairns Colonial Club Resort was:"Pleasant, helpful staff as well as the restaurant prices offering good value for money. "

"The room was confortable e very clean and the hotel facilities very good. Food was good but if you are on a budget it may be a bit expensive eating in the restaurante. There is a bar with good, resonably priced food. The set up is very nice with lots of tropical plants everywhere. Quite nice. "

"I had been recommended this hotel and booked three nights. First night allocated first storey room which smelt musty. Daughter 19yrs had bed settee, very little mattress left so slept on the floor. Cleaning staff recommended we ask for a move as not full. If not full, why we were given a very inferior room. After bringing to reception's attention, changed to a much larger, cleaner and more recently decorated room near the car park. Again not one of their better rooms but more adequate. Sep bedroom is only partitioned off, small kitchen area. R For £10 a night more we later stayed at The Lakes up the road, no comparison. Huge apartment, two sep bedrooms, outside areas with the room, full kitchen. Much better value. Also lighter and more facilities."
The best thing about Cairns Colonial Club Resort was:"Food was very nice in Restaurant."
The worst thing about Cairns Colonial Club Resort was: "Being given an awful room at first, unless you can compare rooms, how do you know this?"
