"My husband and I have stayed at this hotel twice as we liked it so
much.its great value and in an excellent location. The hotel staff are
very friendly and helpful and they remembered us on our 2nd visit which
was so nice.the rooms where very nicely decorated, with a nice
bathroom,a tv to watch and great air conditioning which is need in
marrakech. I recommend this hotel to anyone for a nice friendly service
and a great location.

"Nice room but dark when the lights are on, air conditioning was good,
average bathroom. Good breakfast on roof terrace with great view of the
Koutoubia mosque. Fairly good value for money all in all.

"Good location but lock up your stuff
" |
|
"The location is perfect, the view from restaurant the best in Marrakech.
Dinner in the restaurant was very good although quite expensive..in a
better class than the rest of the hotel. Breakfast so-so. Staff friendly
but not terribly efficient... Took several attempts to get an aircon
remote control even though I speak French, which usualylly helps. Had to
change rooms as the first was beneath the restaurant terrace and very
noisy with chairs and tables being scraped accross the floor. Also a
shirt went missing from my room. Management made a show of quizzing the
cleaning staff but to no avail, naturally. The place is definitely dingy
but it's cheap and the location makes up for it. Lock up your stuff,
though. There is a safe for 75 dh a day.

"Good location

"I cant really say anything great or bad about this hotel. The location
was excellent to the square, we had a problem with our air conditioning
in the room and once I had said to reception they had people up trying
to sort it out in no time at all. Needless to say that it didnt really
cool us down as the system must be ancient. The room was pretty dark and
I think the hotel could do with a few more lights around the place. The
bathroom needed a lick of paint although it smelt clean and the bedroom
was clean.

homemade biscuits and croissants.

"Close to amenities, needs modernisation
" |
|
"In a good location, close to the mosque and the main square, so you'll
save money on taxis. Needs a bit of modernisation, especially in the
bathroom areas. Buffet breakfast was good, and the staff were very
friendly. You can get a more modern hotel for the same price in the
gueliz area, but it means having to get taxis, which are about 10dhms
(70p). The Hotel Amalou is a much nicer hotel for the same price.

"The Islane was in an excellent location and easy to find. The staff were
very welcoming and gave good advice. The bedroom was comfortable and
clean. The en suite bathroom was ok but rather faded. There was only 2
hand towels, both were frayed at the edges but clean. We had an
excellent Lamb tagine in the restaurant on the terrace over looking the
mosque. The continental breakfast had plenty to choose from but some of
the rolls etc were not fresh.

"Perfect location & sincerely helpful staff, I would recommend this hotel
to friends and family.
" |

"I found the staff to be very helpful and the location is perfect for
visiting the old Marrakesh. Any questions we had were answered along
with helpful advice. The rooms are adequate and the price in my budget
especially as it included a buffet breakfast. The roof top restaurant
was lovely even in the winter months. We had our best dinner @ this
restaurant.
"
The best thing about Islane was:"The staff took the time to smile and were helpful.

The worst thing about Islane was: "If I had to find something "worst" I would say that it would of been

"A functional hotel 2 minutes from the main square

"Though not full of Moroccan character this hotel is in a good postion.
Easy walking from the Djemaa El Fna square, bus stops and taxi ranks.
Some rooms may not have any views or even windows, though air
conditioned. Rooms fairly clean and comfortable, though not large.
Breakfast is typical continental buffet, taken on the superb terrace.
Great views of the Koutoubia Mosque opposite.

"Excellent location, good hotel, good value
" |
|
"The location was excellent. Perfect for walking around and to visit
some key sights such as the square and the Katoubia Mosque. If its not
too hot you could even walk to some of the palaces, though taking cabs
are cheap.
The hotel has a rooftop terrace restaurant which probable gives the best view of the mosque and is brilliant at sunset to sit, people watch and drink mint tea. The food isn't too bad and compared to some of the restaurants in the square is both cheaper and better quality.
Breakfast is not to great but you cant expect much considering it is so cheap to stay here.

"The hotel was good value: +Very good location for simply walking to the
Djemaa El Fna square, souks, places to eat within the city walls etc
+Good cold buffet breakfast +Good views from the terrace, watching the
daily chaos of the road but also the lovely mosque and park beyond
-The terrace overlooked a busy road, at times the traffic fumes were bad, (generally the breeze took the fumes away) perhaps not suitable for someone with breathing problems
-The hotel was generally tired and in need of a paint job
