Cheap and discount hotels and accommodation in Granada, Spain

The Moorish city at the foot of snowcapped mountains

Because it was the last city reconquered by the Catholic Monarchs in 1492, Granada has an unmistakable Arab flavour. Its cuisine, crafts and urban layout are a consequence of the city's glorious history. Fountains, viewpoints and Cármenes, the villas surrounded by gardens typical of the city, add to Granada's unforgettable charm.
Not in vain was one of its oldest districts, the Albaicín, declared a World Heritage Site, together with the Alhambra and the Generalife. An important cultural centre for centuries, both during Muslim and Christian rule, nowadays the city boasts an enviable calendar of cultural and leisure events. Music, cinema and theatre seasons and festivals are listed, along with permanent and temporary exhibitions ranging over all fields of knowledge.

Our customer's tips and city guides for Granada:

"Be ready for a lot of walking. "
of (Mature couple) stayed: Vincci Granada Hotel, May 2009

"If you want to stay in the middle of Granada and nearby interesting things: Alhambra, Cathedral, nice aereas in the city, then you choose this hotel. But on the other hand it is relative because it was for us the first time in Granada, so our experience with other hotels is very poor! "
Mrs A Van De Molen of Soest (Mature couple) stayed: Atenas Hotel, Oct 2007

"Dont expect anything, only reason I went was my parents wanted to see Alhambra which is the only thing that is worth going for. Shops open 10- 12 in the morning, 5-8 in the evening. Touristic buses are a let down, not worth the money, and dont believe the maps to find locations in Granada, its usually wrong. We found out the hard way. Go to the flemenco bar, thats a good show. In Granada everything is so laid back it can get annoying. Go with someone who knows the language, may make the trip smoother. "
Miss S Masum of London (Family with young children) stayed: Alhamar Hotel, Jul 2007

More customer tips and city guides for Granada:

"The Alhambra bus that departs a hundred yards from the hotel and circuits the city centre then the Albayzin area and back to its start point is fantastic value at 1 euro for the trip. "
Mr E Bailey of Lutterworth (Seniors (65+)) stayed: Alixares Hotel, May 2007

"Book for Alhambra well in advance. "
Mrs J Carver of Brough (Mature couple) stayed: Atenas Hotel, Apr 2007

"Always book your alhambra tickets well in advance ( the hotel helped out and we went via a tour which was with hindsight much bettewr than going under our own steam. "
Mr D Offord of Sidcup (Mature couple) stayed: Melia Granada Hotel, Apr 2007

"Get a good map if arriving by car "
Mr R Dickenson of Northampton (Solo leisure) stayed: Carlos V Hotel, Mar 2007

"Staying for three days, we bought a 'Bono turistico' ticket which entitles you to nine bus journeys, a site-seeing tour of the town valid for 24 hours, entrance to the Alhambra, the cathedral, the Capilla Real, the Cartuja and a couple of other museums. It can be bought at the Capilla Real near the cathedral. It was very convenient and saved us some money. "
Mr K Bowden of Bath (Mature couple) stayed: Alixares Hotel, Feb 2007

"If you're a non-smoker, you are going to have a tough time here (as in Spain in general) The country is about 20 years behind North America in considering the impact on the health and welfare of other people. "
Mr L Sutton of Victoria (Mature couple) stayed: Corona De Granada Hotel, Feb 2007

"Walk everywhere and when the ladies round the cathedral try to give you a sprig of heather for luck, just say 'No creo en la suerte'. "
Mr A Cummisky of Ilford (Solo leisure) stayed: Corona De Granada Hotel, Feb 2007

"Walk to the top of the city to get a view of Alhambra "
Mr M Boyd of London (Young couple) stayed: Carlos V Hotel, Jan 2007

"There are lots of one way streets which can be confusing and there is a restriction on 'ordinary' traffic using streets in the area around the Cathedral. (This was made worse by the seemingly endess amount of roadworks which were taking place while we were there). Leave the car somewhere easy to park and take a taxi or a 'Alhambra Bus' they were cheap and frequent. "
Mr C Booth of Chepstow (Mature adult friends) stayed: San Gabriel Hotel, Jan 2007
