Valencia - Both Ancient and Modern

Valencia is one of the largest cities in Spain, and among the liveliest. It is located right on the Mediterranean Sea and is frequently touted as the ‘New Barcelona’ - Spain’s third largest metropolis is fast becoming one of the hottest tickets in the European city break market. There used to be a river running through the centre of the city but the river was redirected a while back and replaced by a beautiful park.
Arts and Science Park

Don't miss these spectacular and futuristic buildings comprising the science museum, an opera house, planetarium and aquarium. Even if you don't go inside it's worth a few hours to just wander around and pretend you are on Mars. You can walk there in just about half an hour along the old river bed park.

"The sightseeing tourbus situated at the mainsquare is worth doing as it gives it orientation of the different parts of the city and you can get on and off to see sights. "
Ms E Gilhooly of London (Mature adult friends) stayed: Catalonia Excelsior Hotel, Jun 2007

"Take one of the open top tourist buses straight away, it gives you a good feel for the city. Oceanographic sea life centre is brilliant "
Mr T Wykes of Helensburgh (Young couple) stayed: Venecia Hotel, May 2007

"Stay closer to the centre of town. "
Ms P Folsom of Harborne (Family with teenage children) stayed: Confortel Aqua 3 Hotel, Mar 2007

"Valencia is a lovely city. The old river bed, now a park, is an absolute boon for the city, for sport, walking, relaxing etc. If you hire a car to see something of the surrounding countryside, and your hotel does not have any parking facilities, parking could be a problem. The Americas Cup is being held in Valencia over the summer months and the port is having a regeneration. Worth a look at. "
Mrs V Booth of Halifax (Mature couple) stayed: Silken Puerta Valencia Hotel, Mar 2007

"We got taxis to and from the airport and they varied by 3 Euros(17 coming and 14 returning). Some drivers charge supplements for each piece of luggage and others don`T.If you are not carrying much luggage then the bus would be much cheaper and stops close to the railway station(which is only a few hundred yards from the Hotel). We went on the open-top bus tour of the city and would recommend it.It lasts roughly an hour and a half and there is an English commentary. It starts from the Plaza De La Reina, which is just a couple of streets away.We also used the Metro and the Trams to go and see the beech and port area. The nearest Metro station was at a place called Colon (it is in Calle Colon and not far away) "
Mr K Robinson of Northampton (Mature couple) stayed: Venecia Hotel, Feb 2007
