		Boston: A Taste of Europe Across the Pond Boston is arguably the most European of all American cities. With influences from Colonial England and more lately European Capitals creating a vibrant New England Capital. Boston is a walking-friendly city with the famous Freedom Trail actually mapped out on the pavements. It's well worth a walk from the start not least for all the local restaurants and hostelries you pass en route. Talking of holstelries a visit to Boston would not be complete without having a couple of beers in the famous Cheers Bar. They might not know your name these days but they can certainly sell you a T Shirt or beer glass from the gift shop.

		If it's shopping you're after then Faneuil Hall, also known as Quincy Market is the place to be. It features a host of stores and stalls offering souveniers, clothes shopping, antiquities and a wide variety of food options. If you've had enough of walking then a great way to see the city is on board one of the Boston Duck Tours. The tour (pictured left) takes you through the sites of Boston with a twist. The amphibous vehicle spends as much time in the water as on the land giving a unique perspective of the Boston skyline. If sports is more your game then you've got a host of options. Fenway Park is home of Baseball's Boston Red Sox with the season running from March to September. Basketball and Ice Hockey are both played at the Boston Garden. The Boston Celtics play Basketball during October and April and the Boston Bruins play Ice Hockey between October and April. And don't forget the hugely succesful New England Patriots playing Americal Football at Gilette Stadium. For all sporting events it's worth trying to obtain tickets in advance. However a good hotel concierge will always manage to get you tickets for a fee.

"Although the hotel is reachable from any terminal by enclosed walkway (useful in winter), it is quite a hike up and down several escalators (or elevators), there is a complimentary shuttle. It is your choice, stay in the warm with a 15min walk or go out into the Bostonian winter and wait 15/30 mins for the shuttle. "

" It is a nice location, to be out of the city centre and prices, but with hindsight we should have chosen somewhere in same price range closer, perhaps near the airport where you can use the subway. It cost us $40 from bus station to hotel in a taxi. And $20 from hotel to nearest subway station to return to city centre. Loved the market place area, particularly all the little eating joints, great atmosphere. The "hop on/ off bus is well worth doing, but if you are going to do just ONE thing, go to the JFK museum, easy to reach by subway. It's overwhelming, especially for someone of my generation "
