"Excellent Position - Good service - one niggle" |
|
"We (couple 60 and 62) booked into this hotel with our children 35, with
partner 35, and 32 for a family celebration week. The rooms are mini
suites with coffee making and microwave facilities. The rooms were also
large enough for a table to eat off in some comfort. They had 2 double
beds each. We did not eat in the hotel, but there is a coffee shop
breakfast room and an up market Brazilian Restaurant, which specialised
in very large portions of skewered meat.
The location of the
hotel and the facilities are excellent for its price, Times Square and
Central Park being a short walk away. There is also a subway station
very close. There is a good selection of bars and retaurants nearby. It
was an excellent base for a visit to New York City.
The service
was efficient and unobtrusive. We had one small niggle. When we arrived
our rooms were not ready (it was before the time) and so we were invited
to leave our luggage. We did so and left the hotel and had a look around
the local area. When we returned the bags were taken to our rooms. We
found that one of our bags, an expensive Delsey Makeup case, was
damaged, the handle being broken off. We complained and after a long
negotiation we accepted a cash settlement rather than go to further
transatlantic arbitration.
However, our overall impression was
very good. The hotel is obviously well-used, but it is clean and the
decorations are ok. A tip: There are lifts to the right of the reception
area and these are lessw ell used than those in reception."
The best thing about Belvedere was:"Its Location"
The worst thing about Belvedere was: "Hard nosed attitude to replacing damaged luggage"
