"The location of this hotel is the best feature. It's a massive hotel and
at check-in I had to queue 30min before I could get my keys. The rooms
are old and need refurbishement. The main lamp in my room didn't work
anymore and the bath tub wasn't white... But the price I paid for the

"Great location - poor service and decor
" |

"You could not wish for a better location, right bang next to Penn
Station, Macys, Empire State Building, Times Square etc etc. I took my
wife there for her 50th Birthday, and it would have been cheaper, if I
had been mugged and had my credit card stolen! She wiped me out, but it
was worth every penny. We used the subway (during the day) and you can
get everywhere for $7.50 a day metro pass. If you only use the hotel as
a base, and not bothered about, service, courtesy, decor, cracked sinks,
rusting fixings and dark dingy cramped rooms. Its fine. If you just
wanna shop and crash out in the evening, its brilliant. Try Joe O's on
the ground floor, best Guinness and steak around.

"No complaints about this hotel
" |
|
"We found this hotel to be very suitable to our needs. While it is too
big to be very personal or intimate, the staff were friendly and found
us a twin bedded room on request. The room was perfectly comfortable and
clean. The location couldn't be better for shopping and sightseeing
which was what we were about and it is very near to the Theatre
District. We were a bit surprized at first at the number of canine
guests but soon realised that there was a major dog-show in Madison
Square Gardens across the road and even got to meet the star of the
show. All in all we were not disappointed and I would certainly consider
staying here again.

"On arrival the reception is very grand and staff were very helpful. The
bedrooms are basic but were kept clean by daily maid service with fresh
towels and linen. (Being that we spent about 16 hours in the hotel in
four days). Location is spot on being dead opposite Madison Square
Garden and two blocks from the Empire State Building and Macy's and a
short taxi ride from the rest of the attractions.
Would definately recommend friends to stay at the Hotel and when I return will more thank likely stay here again.

"We Stayed at the Pennsylvania hotel for a week from the 30th of October,
Overall the hotel was of a average standard, quite a big room for the two of us, now too congested considering we had the french marathon team staying there,
Room was basic but cleanish (needed updating), beds very comfortable which is just what you need after a hectic day in New York
Godsend it being very near Penn Station (if you can't walk too far) and being opposite the Garden is a bonus if you've got tickets to an event there
If you go out in times square and come back late, a taxi is less than £5 which is great value
"

square would be a bonus

time in the hotel just sleeping, Having a shower and changing clothes.
The room was small, and there was no view but the bed sheets were
changed every day as were the towels and the room was cleaned. What

standard of the rooms wasn't so great. But the location is ideal and we

"The location of the hotel was great - round the corner from Empire
State, next to Macy's & Madison Square Garden. Times square is just 5
mins walk.
The hotel was the cheapest decent looking one we could
find that wasn't miles away from the centre. The lobby is beautiful,
however it deteriorates as you make your way to your room. Just a little
messy & some small touches could be done here & there to the
decor.
The room is basic. Bathroom was clean & shower worked well.
The room was warm & there was a tv. The bed was comfortable. The room
just lacked that little extra touch, (messy wallpaper in the corners,
wonky radiator, but to be fair, who spends all their time in a hotel

"Great location, great price, great city!" |

"The thing with any hotel in New York, is that if you're looking to
spend a lot of time in a hotel room - you're in the wrong city!
The
Pennsylvania, although not the height of luxury, has been a great base
for our New York holidays on 3 occasions. The staff are helpful and
willing, the rooms are all above average size for the centre of New York
and the hotel's facilities are better than you'd expect. Each room
we've stayed in has been clean, spacious and whilst facilities in each
vary (some have a fridge, walk in wardrobe / 3 beds) all are fine for
the amount of time you spend in your room!
What's more important, is
the range and quantity of great bars, restaurants, tourist attractions
and shops only a stone's throw from the hotel.
The hotel's great -
but what you're really getting is affordable above-average accomodation
in the Big Apple!"
The best thing about Pennsylvania Hotel was:"Location, location, location (and the Irish bars across the street!)"
The worst thing about Pennsylvania Hotel was: "Some rooms are in need of refurbishment, but this is being gradually
carried out."
