| Description of the Argonaut Hotel |
There are few better examples in California of mixing the outwardly modern with the richly historic. The Argonaut was built on the former Del Monte Cannery and similar to the Admiral in Copenhagen, still maintains many features of the original building. It is now home to the San Francisco's Maritime National Park Museum and is a piece of living history on Fisherman's Wharf. It also boasts an unrivalled location in the one of the most popular tourist areas of San Francisco. There's the atmosphere along the Wharf or on the famous Pier 39, enjoy the delights of the trendy Ghirardelli Square or take a trip over the fabled prison of Alcatraz. There is no shortage of bars or restaurants and plenty of evening activity. Cable car access to downtown San Francisco and Union Square and the famed Golden Gate Bridge is next door to the hotel.
