"This hotel id poor value for money. 21 hours spent in Hotel cost £148.
Room was a mismatch of furniture, Mirrors were dirty, carpet needs
replacing after what looked like flood. Very old tv. Beds were hard
Asked if we where leaving at 8.30 am and checkout was 11? Breakfast was passable, coffee was like dishwater. Found staff curt apart from Hall porter

"The room was a large quiet single room. The food was good value. The spa
and gym facilities were good. I had the best back massage I have ever
experienced. I highly recommend booking a massage. Available daily after
3pm. All the staff were excellent. I would recommend the hotel to anyone
who wants good value, central location and a hotel that works well for
its guests.

"Breakfast was ok , however after loading our plate with hot food we
asked for haggis and was told by chef to ask a waitress, simiarly
poached eggs had to be ordered via the waitress, it would have been nice
to know this in advance, the result being we did not have either

faciilties was a welcome treat after a busy afternoon shopping.

"Check in time is advertised as 2pm, I called the hotel at 1.30 pm to
confirm the check in time was 2pm. I arrived at the hotel at 2.10pm
where I was told by a rather sullen receptionist that my room was not
ready because the hotel had been fully booked the night before. I was
asked to wait in the lounge for 10 minutes while the room was prepared.
I left the reception area at 2.15pm. After waiting in the lounge until
2.45pm I returned to the reception area to enquire why my room was
still not ready. No explanation was given. At this point I was advised
that housekeeping staff were in the room preparing it. I was then
offered a rather feeble apology for the delay and told I could have the
room key and wait a further 10 minutes to allow housekeeping staff to
prepare the room.
When i did get into the room it was an average room, clean and tidy. The restuarant facility served good food in a pleasant environment and most of the staff were pleasent. Unfortunately the stay was affected by the delay in check in and the rather rude reception staff. First impressions count and unfortunately the Carlton did not leave a good impression on me.
