Description of the Masson House Hotel

This university complex also operates as a hotel and consists of a main building and ten annexes, each with five floors, comprising a total of 700 rooms. Facilities on offer include a spacious lobby with 24-hour reception, 12 safes, and 8 lifts, in addition to 3 cafes, a kiosk, a bar, and 2 restaurants serving culinary delicacies and with highchairs available for children. There are also 18 conference rooms and a public Internet terminal (charges apply) which guests may take advantage of, and the laundry service (charges apply) completes the offerings. The complex features six bicycle storage rooms and sufficient parking spaces for those guests arriving by car. This complex is a part of Edinburgh's first university campus hotel, and there are very attractive offers for guests here during the Easter and summer holidays.

This pleasant university complex is located in an ideal position from which to explore the fascinating city, and itself affords outstanding views over the historic Arthur's Seat volcano. The Royal Mile, the Scottish Parliament, and the Palace of Holyroodhouse are all nearby the complex. A range of bars, pubs, and links to the public transport network can be reached in around 500 m, shops and nightclubs in 1 km, and the city centre and railway station in 3 km. Edinburgh airport lies 12 km from the complex.

Room description:

The pleasantly appointed rooms all come with an en suite bathroom with shower, a direct dial telephone, and a TV. A double bed, adjustable heating, carpeted floors, and tea and coffee making facilities are also all provided as standard.

Meals:

Guests may select their breakfast, midday and evening meals from a buffet. In addition, lunch may also be chosen from a set menu.

"Budget Accommodation in an Ugly Building "
	"The photo on the website really sold this "Hotel" to me as it looks gorgeous. However, I was in for a shock: Masson House is one of the student blocks that appears to be a 70's build. It is hideously ugly, the room was small and also quite offensive to the eye. The room was clean though, en-suite, had a telephone and enough electrical sockets for me to charge my photo gear. Although, I struggled to find space for it. I found the kitchen (signed Pantry) was in good order with irons and ironing board, sink, toaster, and microwave. Compared to other accommodation, Masson House does appear to be cheap. Because breakfast was in a dining hall about 5 minutes walk away, we didn't bother and ate when we got to the City instead. There were quite a few groups of people on the campus such as sports teams and organised trips. This place is ideal for that as there are common rooms to congregate in. It did the job... "Great value in a really good location for us "
	" We came to do the moonwalk and it was really convenient for us. The rooms were clean, the bed comfy and the surroundings lovely. Also the staff were really helpful and friendly in reception and also in the refrectory. The food was great there also, with lots of choice and we would book to stay there again next time we visit Edinburgh.
