Designed by Robert Adam over 200 years ago The George Hotel is an impressive listed building in a great central location. The hotel has been undergoing a refurbishment which has been very sympathetically done to incorporate the many original features. The reception has grand marble pillars and corniced ceilings but there is also a contemporary element with warm colours and furnishings. The standard bedrooms are still of a traditional style and being up-graded throughout 2006; they are generally of a good size with high ceilings. The restaurant has impressive large glass atrium ceiling.

There are 9 meeting rooms at the hotel which can accommodate up to 300 people. There is also a business centre.
There are no ramps to access the hotel but the reception is ground level and just few steps up; public areas and lifts are accessible; there are also some adapted bedrooms.

All of Edinburgh city centre; Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile, Parliament Building, Holyrood Palace, Grassmarket, Princes Street and George Street for shopping, bars and restaurants. Royal Yacht Britannia located in Leith is about 15min bus ride.
Waverley Bridge is the nearest train station 5-10min walk away; all main bus routes including airport buses are from Princes Street 5min walk away.
From the airport:-
Bus from airport to city centre departs regularly (usually every 10mins) costs £3 single and £5 return and takes approx. 30mins a taxi costs about £20 from airport to city centre
There is no parking at the hotel; there is a NCP car park nearby which costs approx. £12-15 per day.
Hotel bar open daily from 11.00 to 01.00 offering a relaxed venue for drinks and light snacks
The standard bedrooms are in the main original part of the building and are of traditional décor; some bedrooms are tired in style but clean, comfortable and maintained. Most are of a good size and have high ceilings and some original features. There are smoking and non smoking rooms available.
There are deluxe bedrooms available (subject to supplement) which are contemporary in style and have been recently renovated offering a high level of comfort and on higher floors some great views.
