"Very efficient check in service and a cosy room for our one night. We were going to the Royal Opera House and were delighted as it was within easy walking distance and we were able to lose the car without getting a parking ticket. After the performance we walked a few yards to a very nice bar for drinks and a snack and then off to the hotel in the snowy weather. Good night's sleep and an excellent breakfast the next morning with lots of choice to cater for all tastes and nationalities. Decide what your priorities are and choose your hotel accordingly. If you wish to visit the theatre and art galleries in Trafalgar Square then this hotel is an ideal base. I also noticed that the concierge was advising foreign visitors and helping them to book trips in a most helpful manner. "
The best thing about Strand Palace was:"Location and very courteous staff. "
The worst thing about Strand Palace was: "There was a long queue for breakfast at one of the restaurants but wechose the other one and had no problem at all. "

"We have stayed at the Strand Palace Hotel on numerous occasions in the last 12 months and we are never disappointed with the quality, service and location of this superb establishment. We stayed this latest time with other members of my family, my disabled parents, my brother and his wife and our twelve year old son. We were treated to a club room - excellect facilities and comfortable furnishings. We were even daring enough to book dinner in the carvery for additional family and friends (twelve in total) who were very impressed with this lovely hotel and they regretted not booking at the Strand Palace. Incidentally the carvery has to be one of the best value and best quality meals in London (£14.95 2 courses, £17.95 3 courses) and the service was excellent. I have already booked for a party of four and another party of five in March 2008. Breakfast is a marvel aswell! "
The best thing about Strand Palace was:"Superb Carvery and wonderful breakfast! "
The worst thing about Strand Palace was: "Other residents a little noisy returning late on Saturday night but onlylasted for a couple of minutes. "

"I would defiantly stay at this hotel next time I visit London. We arrived to a queue of about 10 people waiting to check-in; due to the number of people in the queue more staff was put on the check-in desks, so we were checked in with-in 10 minutes, what a fantastic start. The room was huge compared to what we are used to staying in (when we visit London), and the facilities in the room were excellent. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic (large variety and very tasty) and again all the staff were ensuring that everyone had exactly what they wanted. The staff were all extremely helpful and always appeared to be happy in there jobs, thoroughly enjoyed my stay, it was a real pleasure. "

"This was probably a grand hotel of the last century that has seen better days. However it still is good value for a short family break in London. It was the cheapest hotel that is so close to the Lyceum where we went to see the Lion King. For that reason I would reccomend it with the Buffet breakfast. The concierge service was good but being charged 2 pounds per bag stored for the day was a bit steep. "

Our friends had a room on the 6th floor which compared to ours was like a garden shed and even hotter! So those small rooms would deter me from staying again <ask for the large green themed on the 8th> this is a busy hotel in a great location its clean along with a really good breakfast , smart clean and friendly staff, also it was quiet. I use hotels a fair ammount and would reccomend the strand palace "

"I've stayed here several times, and while the hotel is a bit faded and need of overhauling here and there, it suits my purposes just fine. It's on the Strand, near Whitehall, the Thames and the theatres and restaurants of Covent Garden. My single room at the front, on the 5th floor overlooking Simpson's, was clean and everything worked. The orignal sash windows need replacing but the secondary glazing was fine and the room quiet. The bathrrom was as it should be. The hotel was full and there were queues for breakfast at about 7:45 am. but only short delays. There was plenty to eat and a wide range. I would recommend the full breakfast. Most of the guests and staff seemed to be non-UK people. Check-out was quick and simple. "

The room was very comfortable if not a little lacking in pictures to break up the white walls, and the shower was one of the best I've ever had. Food and drinks were excellent, the possible negative point was having to pay £2.00 per bag, per day to store our luggage both before check-in and the followign morning. Good value for money, room was ok and quite, it had everything we need including a bottle of water which is a nice change for those of use who do no drink tea or coffee. The corridors were looking a bit worn in need of an upgrade. Breakfast - good choice. All in all a great stay in an excellent location for our theatre visit. "

"Me and my boyfriend decided to stay at the strand palace for Valentines day as we were planning on spending the evening in the West End. When we initially arrived at the Hotel it all seemed very nice, the location was excellent (only a 5 min walk from Charing Cross/5 mins to Covent Garden/Leceister Square) and we were checked in very promptly. We were given a room on the 4th floor which was quite small but decent enough for just the one night considering the deal I got (£44pp) and also the fact we were planning on spending most of our time outside anyway. Upon our return to the room after our meal out we realised that our room was situated very closely opposite to other rooms on the other side of the hotel and you could actually see directly into other people's windows and vice versa. We had to close the curtains the entire time because of this but despite not being able to see other guests anymore we could still hear them. There was lots of banging around and talking and then they got into the shower and it was all so loud we couldn't get to sleep so we decided to watch the tv. We were told there were 'in-room movies' but whenever we pressed the 'pay-tv' button on the remote it said 'not available'. Also every single one of the coca-cola vending machines (one on every floor) was sold out or out of order so we couldnt even get a drink for our room. The next morning we unfortunately overslept later than planned and by the time we got downstairs the queue for breakfast was massive and as it finished in 20mins (10.30) we didnt see how we would make it so we decided to skip breakfast and go somewhere else. Checking out was quick and easy. "

We had a great time and booking with midas hotels was so quick and easy I have recommended them to all my friends and would not hesitate to book with them in the future either at home or abroad. Location is excellent, standard of room is good, fairly large, clean and comfortable, breakfast was excellent, people were having to queue on the Sunday morning at 10:00am for a table, so tip: get there early! We rang to complain about a noisy door after mid-night, problem was quickly resolved by Maintenance and a good night's sleep followed. We will stay here again. "

"Had a club room, upgraded for free on the day which was a nice surprise. The room was decent sized with nice decor, tea making facilities tv etc, nothing spectacular, but it does make you wonder then how different the club room was to the standard room?!?! The light bulb in the bathroom did not work, it was reported but still no-one came to fix during our stay which was a disappointment. We were booked to have a continental breakfast but we were really unhappy to find that the room in which it was served could clearly not cope with the number of guests as the queue was winding its around the lobby and reception so we didn't even bother waiting for it. If you are going to the theatre or out somewhere in Covent Garden then the hotel is perfect for a cheap place to rest your head after your night out. If you looking for a hotel with good service and lovely rooms together with a great atmosphere then maybe its worth paying that little bit more. "

The room was spotlessly tidy, and if not too big, was certainly adequate for two nights. The breakfast is excellent, as was the Carvery on the first night. We had hopes to have have had a light meal after the theatre in one of the bars but iwas used fora private function. It would be good is such functions could be held in other areas of the hotel but there may be a good reason for that.
