Visit London? - What a Capital idea!

When was the last time you went to London?

We've got a wealth of history, in Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London, a fashion sense in Carnaby Street, theatrical extravaganzas in the West End and more musuems than our friends across the pond can shake a stick at.
You can cruise along the Thames, and there's even a pretty big wheel to view it all from.
Shopping , Dining and Pub Culture

You can shop till you drop on Oxford Street, or pick up a bargain at the vibrant markets of Camden, Portobello Road & Covent Garden.

When you do drop, you can rest easy knowing that some of the best restaurants and upmarket bars alongside some of the finest historic public houses will offer you refreshment.

And you can book your London hotel from our list below or simply enter your dates in the box on the left.

Our customer's tips and city guides for London:

"The Generator Hostel is situated just n of the University "campus", which is a pretty dull area for night-life. Visitors should get an Oyster card and make for the Underground station to get to stations nearer the river. Or walk east to the other side of Tottenham Ct Road, where things brighten up considerably, with ample bars and good cheap restaurants. "
Mr I Clark of Whitby (Solo business) stayed: Generator Hotel, Jun 2008

"Tube is still best way to travel around London - would recommend as we probably saved a fortune using the tube although we did spend a fortune on taxis late at night. "
Mrs M Honey of Dalbeattie (Mature adult friends) stayed: City Inn Westminster Hotel, May 2008

"Bring some handwash gel, so you don't have to walk from the loo to the bathroom to wash your hands. "
Ms F Mcclure of Bristol (Young adult friends) stayed: Astor Court Hotel, May 2008

Ms E Scanlon of Rochdale (Mature adult friends) stayed: Nh Harrington Hall Hotel, Aug 2007

"Use the day bus pass for 3.50 and you can ride an old Routemaster bus. For speed use the underground day pass for 5.10. See all the free stuff like the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace first. The guards at Horseguards Parade and of course the Houses of Parliament. If it is raining ejoy any of the fanstic art galleries or museums for free. Two chicken and chips meals for 3 pounds by the Tower of London was the best food deal. Allow a long time to see the Tower of London if you like jewels and armour. "
Ms A Hunt of Walsall (Solo leisure) stayed: Strand Palace Hotel, Aug 2007

"Work out the best way to travel before arriving ie tube or bus "
Mrs E Watters of Londonderry (Mature adult friends) stayed: Thistle Bloomsbury Hotel, Aug 2007

"This hotel is in great location covent garden at the rear with its markets and other attractions within easy reach, t he routemaster buses now only operate on three heritage routes taking in a number of sites the number 9 and 15 stop opposite the hotel, when useing the buses buy a day saver or one of the other offers its cheaper. If you fancy a pint there are a number of good pubs around ,the coal hole opposite the hotel is good, but Iwas amazed to find the cheapest pint of beer I have ever come across in London a really qaint little pub on the same side as the stand hotel the lyceum at £1.78 a pint beat that eating out aviod the poor food and rip off prices at the scotch steak house near the strand palace go around the corner two minutes away you will always remember eating at the papageno whith its amazing themed interia and the price to eat there is cheaper than most places around there its exellent food and good value inc a complimentry brandy ! "
Mr M Mcalister of Manchester (Mature couple) stayed: Strand Palace Hotel, Aug 2007

"Get yourselves an oyster card to travel in the underground and if you are using the london docklands rail you may need an extra ticket. "

Mr M Belcher of Sleaford (Young couple) stayed: Hesperia London Victoria Hotel, Mar 2007

"Ideal if you want a good clean comfortable base whilst going to see a West End Show. "
Mrs T Thurston of Lowestoft (Family with teenage children) stayed: Strand Palace Hotel, Feb 2007

"Buy a daily or weekly ticket forthe tube and buses, much better value than buying single trip tickets. The open top buses touring London are a bit expensive at £40 but you also get a free river trip, we would not use them again. If you like good British food try Simpsons in the Strand- expensive but really good. The Banquette in the Savoy Hotel offers reasonable value meals but the wine can easily double your bill.; There is plenty to do without spending a fortune, walks along the river (free), entry to the watercolour society gallery (free), probably the best museums in the world (free). "
Mr M Brown of Porthcawl (Mature couple) stayed: Strand Palace Hotel, Feb 2007

"It is a really nice hotel for location in the West End but maybe upgrade to the club room if you are staying for a special occasion as the other rooms are quite small, and ask for a room situated on the outside edge of the building rather than the inside to avoid being so closely situated to other noisy guests. Also pay the little bit extra for English breakfast as we realised on the day there is a seperate queue which is quicker and a lot better run. We had a nice stay though overall considering what a bargain we payed for it. Would stay again purely for the location. "
Miss L Bagnall of Woolwich (Young couple) stayed: Strand Palace Hotel, Feb 2007

"The buses offered a cheaper option than taxis and are so easy to access via a ramp and are free for the disabled. "
Mrs J Harrop of Bessacarr (Young adult friends) stayed: Strand Palace Hotel, Feb 2007

"This Hotel is very central for sightseeing and 'doing a show'. Concierge Service extremely knowledgeable. "
Mrs S Hurley of Yeovil (Mature couple) stayed: Strand Palace Hotel, Feb 2007

"If travelling with people who need assistance (as I was - my niece and her friend both have Down's Syndrome) I would advise to stay a little closer to the hub of activity - we couldnt get a cab back after a show at the Palladium and the buses were confusing to figure out at that time of night. We missed the bus stop on the way back and got lost getting back to the hotel which was unnerving as no-one knew where Leinster Square was and very few were willing to help. Having said that, this was the only downer in a wonderful weekend in London. "
Miss A Quinn of Newry (Young adult friends) stayed: Wedgewood Hotel, Jan 2007

"Take a hot water bottle if you feel the cold. Don't get your heart strings pulled by the 'beggars' who 'work' the underground. Wear comfortable walking shoes, you see much more and get the 'feel' of London; it's a great city. Take one of the Open Top sightseeing buses for the information and to orientate yourself. Visit as many of London's Parks as you can, havens of tranquillity in the midst of the bustle and noise ARE possible to find. Have patience.....smile a lot; brighten someone's day for no cost. "
Ms K Eaton of Southend On Sea (Solo leisure) stayed: Columbia Hotel, Jan 2007

"If you are using the tube, enquire about an Oyster card to make great savings. "
Ms P Hamilton of Pontypridd (Solo business) stayed: Arriva Hotel, Jan 2007

"If you intend using the tube, enquire about an Oyster card to make some substantial savings. "
Ms P Hamilton of Pontypridd (Young adult friends) stayed: Strand Palace Hotel, Jan 2007

"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Strand Palace. "
Ms R Joos of Puurs (Solo leisure) stayed: Strand Palace Hotel, Jan 2007

"Check attractions are not walkable before getting taking the underground - many central tube stations are in walking distance of each other and this can save time at busy journey times E.G. rush hour. "
Miss L Raine of Morden (Young couple) stayed: Strand Palace Hotel, Nov 2006

"Great hotel, great location, good links, cheap taxi ride to central london "
Mr J Ali of Milton Keynes (Young couple) stayed: Queens Park Hotel, Dec 2006

"Plan ahead and eat out "
Mr R Thorn of Wrington (Seniors (65+)) stayed: Strand Palace Hotel, Dec 2006

"Make sure you think about the price of parking before booking as we thought parking was free and it was a bit of a sting in the tail. "
Mr D Sprekelsen of Gloucester (Solo leisure) stayed: Custom House Hotel, Dec 2006

Mr J Rowlands of Cardiff (Mature couple) stayed: Strand Palace Hotel, Nov 2006
